As People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India's Cutest Vegetarian Next Door contest heats up, 24-year-old Dr Smruti Smita Mohapatra of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, may just take home the prize. That's because she has beaten out hundreds of other entrants from across India to be among the 10 female and 10 male contestants to advance to the final round. PETA will crown two winners (one male and one female) Cutest Vegetarian Next Door. All visitors to PETA's website can vote for their favourite finalists in order to help PETA decide whom it should choose as the winners.
Dr Mohapatra says, "I had one workshop with PETA in my undergrad school in Bhubaneswar on November of 2013, and since then, I have been a vegetarian. It has never been a moral policing, but a great and spontaneous choice and realisation on my part to completely turn into a vegetarian".Voting to help PETA decide whom it should choose as the winners ends on 28 October. The winners will be named on 2 November. For more information, please visit PETAIndia.com.
