One day workshop for Women Entrepreneurs

Pidilite Industries in association with Kumudam Snegithi had organized a one day workshop for Women Entrepreneurs of Chennai at Prince Shri Venkateshwara Arts and Science College, Gowrivakkam on 10.09.2016. The participants were trained in making Kerala Mural Painting and Fevicryl work with Shilpkar. Mrs.Mannai.Vijayathilagam inaugurated the session and delivered the inaugural address which inspired the Women Entrepreneurs. Mrs. Jayashree Narayanan, Fevicryl Arts and Crafts Teacher and Dr.Uma Baskar, Principal, Prince Shri Venkateshwara Arts & Science College graced the occasion.

Technical symposium on Artificial Intelligence

Technical symposium on “Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Recent Trends in Computing” was conducted by the Departments of Computer Science and Computer Applications of Valliammal College for Women, Anna Nagar East,Chennai on 15th September 2016 in the college premises.The chief speaker was Dr. J.T. Jayaraman, Computer Scientist, Centre for Applied Scientific Computing, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, U.S.A. In his illuminating talk, he spoke about the principles of deep learning and their recent success in computer vision, natural language understanding and medical imaging. He summarized complex concepts of AI like deep learning, Networking, Machine Learning, Deep Neural Networking, etc. and made a strong note to the young learners to get updated by the latest technological concepts.

Alpha Fest 2016

The festive atmosphere during Alpha Fest for students of Alpha Arts and Science College. It was the 9th of September and the event that garnered such enthusiasm was the annual On-Stage cultural event of AASC, Alpha Fest’16 hosted at its premises. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov, Director, Russian centre of Science and Culture. Mr.Saurav Patra, President Student Forum Shift I welcomed the Chief Guest while Dr.D Ashalatha,Principal Honoured the dignitary. This was followed by the inaugural address by Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov who engaged the audience’s attention through personal anecdotes. He remembered the strong relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and wished that this special friendship should continue forever.
The cultural events began with the Classical Dance as the first competition. This was followed by other events like Mime, Indian Traditional Dance, Western Dance, Folk Dance, Variety-Variety, Adapt Tune, etc. The day witnessed healthy competitions and friendly rivalry among the College teams Shelly, Shaw, Shakespeare and Spencer and a fine display of team spirit by members. The Off Stage competitions included Mehandi,Pot painting, Face painting,T-shirt painting, vegetable carving etc.Alpha Fest 2016 came to an end with the Valedictory Ceremony when winners received their prizes and certificates. It was Shelley House that won the Alpha Fest’16 Championship. Mr.Aravind,President Students Forum Shift-II of the college thanked everyone responsible for making the day a success.

Educational scholarships distributed to encourage students

Indian Community Welfare Organization had organised a function on 10th September 2016 at MLA Office, N0.89, A Block, 3rd street, Anna Nagar East,Chennai.The Chief Guest of the event was Thiru. M.K.Mohan, MLA , Anna Nagar Constituency. Dr. Baskaran, President , ICWO welcomed the gathering. Thiru M.K.Mohan, MLA , Anna Nagar Constituency, said that education is very important for any child. The parents are the first teachers who guide and teach the child to begin with. He wished the children all the best for their future and also had appreciated ICWO for the effort and committed work.
Mr.A.J.Hariharan, Founder Secretary, ICWO quoted that the children who received the support will continue their education and avoids school drop outs.ICWO supports for the educational scholarship for the past 14 years. Every year ICWO supports for 600 marginalized children. Rtn.Seran, from Rotary club of Meenambakkam said that educating a girl child ensures the next generation will be well educated. Ms. J.Brindha, Counsellor, ICWO rendered Vote of Thanks. The programme was organized by ICWO with the support of Enfants du Monde, Belgium .

Valliammal College wins Best Institution Award

Patanjali College of Yoga and Research Centre organised an all India Inter-State Invitational Yoga Championship. 21 students of Valliammal College for Women,Anna Nagar East had won prizes in various categories. Valliammal College for Women got the "Best Institution Award".

A wonderful variety of talents displayed

Prathiba 2016,Freshers’ Talent search was celebrated on 20th August 2016 in Valliammal College for Women, Anna Nagar East. The day was a culmination of events conducted over the week. Off stage events like Nail Art, Jewellery Making, Pencil Sketching, Adzap, Bridal Make-up and on-stage events like Theme dance, Folk dance and Fashion walk were organized. The Fresher’s Day was a wonderful exuberance and a sensational welcome party for the budding bright minds of Valliammal College. The exuberance and glee on the newcomers’ faces said it all. The College Principal Dr. T.V.S. Padmaja was present for the occasion and distributed the prizes to the winners. The Chief Guests for the day were TV Anchor and actress Priyadharshini, The Deployed Candies Twins – Dhanush and Nandha and Fashion Photographer Arun Nair acted judges for various on stage events.

Students Forum inaugurated

Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur celebrated the Inauguration of Students’ forum - Investiture 2016 on 31 August 2016. The chief guest for the day was Dr. C. Sylendrababu, I.P.S, Additional D.G.P, Tamil Nadu. Dr.D.Ashalatha welcomed the gathering with her inspiring speech. Dr.C.Sylendrababu presented badges to the respective students which was followed by the oath taking by the Principal Dr.D.Ashalatha.Mrs.Geetha Ravi Vice – Principal of the College delivered the vote of thanks.
