World AIDS
Day 2015 was marked with “Getting to ZERO” Bike Rally on 30th November 2015
(Monday) at Madras School of Social Work (MSSW) located in Egmore, Chennai. The
event was well organised by Indian Community Development Organisation / TANSACS
/ MSSW / Rotary Club of Chennai, Gemini.The “WORLD AIDS DAY 2015” program was
inaugurated by Thiru. S. Natarajan, I.A.S., Project Director, Tamilnadu State
AIDS Control Society – TANSACS. Speaking on the occasion he mentioned that AIDS
is acquired immunity and it can be avoided if people are aware. Thiru. S.
Natarajan, I.A.S., Project Director, Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society –
TANSACS released 5 different posters on “Getting to ZERO” and the following
person received the first copy of the poster Mr.A.Bakthavatchalam, Executive
Director – ARM, Dr.S.Raja Samuel, Principal, Madras School of Social Work
(MSSW), Rtn. Dr. R.Venkatakrishnan Rotary Club of Chennai, Gemini,
Mr.V.G.Jeyaraman, Director, Leo Matriculation Hr. Sec. School and Ms.Vadhani,
Professor, Madras School of Social Work. Speaking on the occasion
Mr.A.J.Hariharan, Secretary of ICWO said that “Getting to Zero” is not an easy
task which needs a commitment for different stake holder and it is possible
with the support of different stakeholders. ICWO is committed to take up this
campaign for next 4 years in collaboration with various stake holders, and
agencies to achieve the goal. Dr.P.Kuganantham, Consultant, SIMS Hospital,
Former UNICEF/CDC Program Officer AIDS, Former City Health Officer, Chennai
Corporation, said AIDS is not a killer disease; AIDS is a chronic aliment like
diabetes and hypertension. Younger generation has to spread the awareness to
achieve HIV zero infection.

delivered the key note address, he said that the non governmental organizations
are committed to the object of preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS. He specially
thanked Thiru. S. Natarajan, I.A.S., Project Director, Tamilnadu State AIDS
Control Society – TANSACS for his tremendous support in the project. He
mentioned about the innovative ideas initiated by the TANSACS Project Director
like tree planting by the transgender community to break the stigma among the
public, he appreciated Project Director for the micro level approach in
developing the project.Rtn.Dr.R.Venkatakrishnan, Rotary Club of Chennai-Gemini,
said Rotary Clubs have a long term commitment in creating awareness on
HIV/AIDS. Dr.S.Raja Samuel, Principal, Madras School of Social Work (MSSW)
speaking on the occasion he assured that MSSW will always work along with the
pioneers and help them to continue the noble work and also appreciated
Mr.A.J.Hariharan and Thanked TANSACS Project Director.Ms. Aradhana Sharon,
IIIrd Std, ‘A’ Sec, Chennai Public School, Anna Nagar delivered the special
speech on “HIV infection and youth” the MSSW college students along with
Aradhana assured to spread awareness to bring down the HIV new infection.
