Indian Bank celebrates its 115th Foundation Day


Indian Bank commemorated its 115th Foundation Day on the same day as the 75th Independence Day of the nation. The Bank, which commenced its operations on 15th August 1907 as part of our nation’s Swadeshi Movement, has completed 114 years of commendable service, contributing immensely to the socio-economic development.  This year has created a distinguished milestone for Indian Bank, owing to the historic and seamless amalgamation of Allahabad Bank with it and thus, paved way for a vibrant day of celebrations and camaraderie. The virtual celebrations were held in the presence of MD & CEO, Ms. Padmaja Chunduru, ED’s, Shri VV Shenoy and Shri Imran Amin Siddiqui, and former ED’s, Shri. M K Bhattacharya and Shri. K Ramachandran. 

To mark the 115th Foundation Day, the Bank undertook several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the less privileged women, senior citizens and children across its 14 FGMOs and 78 Zones pan-India. Additionally, the Bank also paid tribute to the selfless sacrifice of the staff members who have lost their lives while delivering their services amid COVID – 19.Indian Bank also unveiled its one-of-a-kind Coffee Table Book, delving into the details of its seamless amalgamation process. An Indian Bank anthem was launched to strengthen the brand identity. Several cultural activities and contests were conducted in the virtual mode to boost the morale of the staff members. 

Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Padmaja Chunduru, MD & CEO, Indian Bank said, “This year has been a critical one for the Bank because of the ongoing amalgamation process. But with their perseverance and determined efforts, our team has helped fortify our position in the overall industry and opened up new avenues of growth. We, at Indian Bank, are grateful for the support and patronage of our valued clientele that has been our guiding force.” 

Post the Flag hoisting ceremony and the Guard of Honour presented by the Bank, Ms. Chunduru also recalled the exemplary work done by the Founder and Visionary of the Bank, Shri V Krishnaswami Iyer, whose vision and perseverance resulted in laying the strong foundation of Indian Bank. She further emphasized that Indian Bank is committed to the ‘Nation First, Always First’ ideology and shall continue to align its services with innovative solutions that shall enhance the lives of its customers and public at large, and help accelerate the growth of the nation.
