Diwali Celebration at ICWO

We celebrated the occasion specially to provide them with the much-needed feeling of togetherness and bonding of a family, which made the Diwali special to them this year. We had conducted diya painting competition to add joy and colors in their lives. The residents volunteered and participated in the competition with full enthusiasm. We could see lot of designs and creativity in the competition. Each Diya was decorated in a unique and beautiful way. The shelter was decorated with flower hangings, lights, Diya and rangoli. The participants were distributed gifts which added more joy to them.

The shelter coordinator and care taker also joined us for the celebration by dancing and singing. They thanked Dignity foundation for our specialized services to the homeless elderly people and encouraged us to do more activities for their well-being. The residents shared their experience of the activities which had brought energy to their lives, added more activeness in their daily schedule. They also shared that they had been feeling a difference or some relief in their muscles in doing the Yoga and exercises every day. They are able to find a relief in both physical and mental state. The residents lighted the diyas placed outside round the rangoli and enjoyed taking pictures. It was a fun filled evening and Love smoke was in the air.
