168 child labours rescued in Chennai during 1st January 2023 to 31st July 2023

As part of the Anti-Human Trafficking Join efforts 168 children rescued in Chennai  by ICWO – Indian Community Welfare  Organization/ HSF Project, Asst. Commissioner of Labour, Childline-1098 #SCS #Seva Samaj #NCLP #BBA #SJPU# Law & Order Police Personals Rescued 168 child labour in Chennai during 1st January 2023 to 31stJuly 2023.

The team rescued 5 children from various shops and establishments at Mannady, 23 bonded child labours were rescued from Edapalayam jewel making unit Sowcarpet, 8 boys were rescued from Koyambedu Fruit Market, 4 children and 1 adult trafficked person were rescued in Chennai central railway station they were brought to work in construction company for earth work 8 children were rescued from fishing harbor Chennai. 11 children from two bag stitching company aged between 12-17 years belonging to Bihar and Nepal.

The team rescued all the 29 children aged between 8 to 16 years gullible children were forced to work as child labourers in a bag stitching company.  The team inspected the said train (12376- Jasidih to Tambaram) arrived @ 00.20 hrs and secured four children aged between 15 and 16 years. The children are belongs to the state of Jharkahand (1) West Bengal (2) and Bihar (1).

The boys age between 14 to 16 belongs to Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and Bangladesh all the children produced before CWC for the re integration and to initiate legal action.In Perimet 8 children were rescued from bag stitching unit. 4 children from Egmore Railway station were rescued. 14 children were rescued from Mannady Bag stitching unit and 54 persons including 12 children, all of them bonded labours were rescued from Sowcarpet Reddy Raman Street, Chennai.

The Team Indian Community randomly verified the various business units (Dhaba / Catering and leather bags) in Periyamedu and found four boys aged between 15-17 years working in contravention of law. Children belong to Bihar (1), Odisha (1) and TN (2). ICWO appreciates the entire team of government official and NGO team for the high level of commitment and contribution for this noble cause.
