Heavy rains during
the past weeks had caused water logging and traffic snarls at several parts of
Chennai city. There was heavy water logging at the corner of 5th
Avenue and 2nd Avenue in Anna Nagar West. The stagnation rainwater
posed a hindrance to the motorists and pedestrians who had a tough time
negotiating waterlogged spots and potholes.
The
Nungambakkam observatory had recorded 136.7 mm of rainfall and the suburban
Meenambakkam received 166.8 mm in a day.Heavy thunder showers during the past weeks were caused due to
a depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal.
