Tree Foundation, Roots & Shoots India- Dr. Jane Goodall International Network and National Biodiversity Authority of India along with Institute of Ocean Management organized a one-day Biodiversity and Eco Training Conference for teachers on 15th July 2016. The conference focused on the importance of biodiversity awareness in education, formation of Roots & Shoots eco-groups in schools and also spearheading Eco-projects on campus. This conference called for the foundation of environment education to become the beacon for the conservation and preservation of biodiversity that is an essential element of life.The conference was inaugurated by Director of Institute for Ocean Management Dr S. Srinivasalu.Dr. Supraja Dharini, Tree Foundation highlighted how we can explain biodiversity for children in simple language.We must educate our children to be sensitive to the environment and the different creatures that live in them, she added. This fun activity led by Ms Saymanti got all the participants moving and participating in enacting different components of Ecosystem. Not a single participant stood still! Certificates were distributed by Dr. Ambujam and Dr S Srinivasalu, Director Centre for Water resource Management. About 50 teachers and 18 Roots & Shoots members from Tamil Nadu and Nellore did attend the workshop.
