The festive atmosphere during Alpha Fest for students of Alpha Arts and Science College. It was the 9th of September and the event that garnered such enthusiasm was the annual On-Stage cultural event of AASC, Alpha Fest’16 hosted at its premises. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov, Director, Russian centre of Science and Culture. Mr.Saurav Patra, President Student Forum Shift I welcomed the Chief Guest while Dr.D Ashalatha,Principal Honoured the dignitary. This was followed by the inaugural address by Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov who engaged the audience’s attention through personal anecdotes. He remembered the strong relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and wished that this special friendship should continue forever.
The cultural events began with the Classical Dance as the first competition. This was followed by other events like Mime, Indian Traditional Dance, Western Dance, Folk Dance, Variety-Variety, Adapt Tune, etc. The day witnessed healthy competitions and friendly rivalry among the College teams Shelly, Shaw, Shakespeare and Spencer and a fine display of team spirit by members. The Off Stage competitions included Mehandi,Pot painting, Face painting,T-shirt painting, vegetable carving etc.Alpha Fest 2016 came to an end with the Valedictory Ceremony when winners received their prizes and certificates. It was Shelley House that won the Alpha Fest’16 Championship. Mr.Aravind,President Students Forum Shift-II of the college thanked everyone responsible for making the day a success.
