Chennai-based endodontist V. Gopikrishna has made history by becoming the first Indian president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA). He took office on Saturday at the 15th World Endodontic Congress in Sydney, Australia, marking a significant achievement for Indian dentistry and reflecting its growing role in international endodontic education and practice.
Endodontics focuses on diseases and injuries of the
dental pulp and surrounding tissues, with specialists often performing root
canal treatments to preserve teeth. As president, Gopikrishna will promote
collaboration among various countries' endodontic associations, support
education, boost scientific research, and strengthen global standards.
His appointment signifies the rising global presence
